I'm just glad the latest crisis is over.

Can have sum normalcy now, kplzthx?
Dad is still bleeding on the inside... but they can't find where he's bleeding from.

*headdesk*

The doctor is keeping him in the hospital until the specialist comes in tomorrow.

Fuck, I hate the medical system in this country.
Dad is back in the hospital. A stitch where they took the vein in his lower leg came undone and started leaking blood into his leg, which is mildly infected. They've given him IV antibiotics, and started blood transfusions until a specialist can come in tomorrow.

It's likely he'll have to have surgery to fix where the stitching came loose. I'll have more details on that after Mom talks to the doctors.

Gods, I just wish things would go back to normal...

Dad update

Hello all!

It's been a good day. Dad is home and resting comfortably as he can. He's coughing a bit, which hurts, and his ankles a bit swollen. But Hopefully he'll be back to his usual self soon.

One big change in the house I'm not looking forward to - the diet. Everything has to be low fat and low sodium. *headdesk* I have the feeling I'm going to be eating more at work than at home, which is just sad.

But still... Dad is home, and I can relax for now.
Everything went well in surgery, though there was one surprise.

Turned out to be a Quintuple bypass. They took one whole vein from his leg to do it. Surgery lasted 8 hours due to the extra bypass needed. (Originally thought to be a Quad bypass)

He is in ICU resting comfortably. The prognosis is good, considering how good of shape he's in. No release date yet, but we're hoping for the middle of next week.

To say I'm relieved is an understatement. And the support from all of you has been incredible. Thank you all so much.
This week has been one of the most difficult to deal with. Having to deal with Dad going back into the hospital, then hearing about [personal profile] simons_flower's passing has been almost too much to deal with. Knowing that Dad will be having triple bypass surgery on Wednesday has me on edge, as you can imagine.

But the support of family and friends has been wonderful. I truly thank you all, and I don't know how I would manage without you. That support has led me to lend support to a couple of old friends and reconnect with them. [personal profile] madam_minnie and [personal profile] tqpannie have been dealing as best as they can with the loss of a truly great friend... their soul sister. And while our friendship may not be the way it was in the past, I will still offer my support to them and be here for them as much as I can. After all... what are friends for?

And if you would like to say a few kind words about [personal profile] simons_flower, please go to flowers4trisha and leave some good memories or kind words. All entries will be put into a book and given to Trisha's daughter.
Here's the latest on Dad:

He's in good spirits at the hospital. After talking with the doctors, they've moved his triple bypass surgery to next Wednesday or Thursday. I do not know if he had an actual heart attack while in the car, but it took TWO nitro pills to help him on the way to the hospital. The first one barely made a dent.

As you can imagine, that scares the shit out of me.

Thanks to everyone who's given their support. I really REALLY appreciate it, especially after the last two days. I"ll keep you all informed of any changes.
As if life hasn't given me enough to deal with...

Dad is back in the hospital. He was feeling chest pains when he picked up mom from work. The hospital is keeping him overnight for observation, so it's probably not another heart attack.

Still... I didn't need this...

First off, want to thank everyone who posted and kept my dad in their thoughts. Your support is awesome. I LOVE YOU GUYS!

Now to the news:

Dad came home yesterday, feeling a little weak, as expected. The doctor put him on a low fat, low sodium diet. (Also not unexpected) And alas, my hopes for non-invasive surgery are gone. He will be undergoing triple bypass surgery on September 15th. They want to make sure that the artery that runs along the heart into the right valves does not get compromised in any way. Chances of survival if that artery is blocked are practically zero.

Very scary thought.

But he is home, for which we are all very glad. Thank you all again for your support.
